Familial Forestry has been a great initiative which has created a tremendous impact in the semi-arid districts of Rajasthan. Let’s understand the impact of this model if replicated on a large scale.
1. If we assume that a moderate sized village has 1500 families. Each family plants at least 5 fruit plants, the total number of fruit plants in a village will be around 7500. Thus, helping in improvement of the forest cover, bio diversity, nutritional level, economic condition and over all standard of living of that village. I have been educating and initiating villagers to do so from last 12 years without Government support. There are villages in western Rajasthan where with the involvement of villagers under Familial Forestry drive, thousands of fruit plants have been
planted. I can scale it to a larger level if I receive adequate resources and manpower to support.
2. I have visited and got connected with more than 3000 schools and colleges and urged students and teachers to be part of this drive. I have been delivering climate literacy program and sensitizing them with the need of the hour. With the active involvement of my students, I have been able to plant over 700000 saplings in western Rajasthan and some parts of Bihar too. I wish to start a Green University, which will specifically work towards Familial Forestry. The University will train students of different age-group and culture towards the mission of
developing Eco- Brotherhood. For this.
3. Maharaja Ganga Singh University (Public University) of Bikaner has included Familial Forestry in their syllabus at Post Graduation Level. I earnestly desire to promote this concept on Global Level.
4. Revering and worshiping plants have been detrimental in every culture across globe. But due to the massive industrialization and shrinking spaces, greenery has become a distant concept for a large population. Familial Forestry is connecting the present generation with its roots.
To extend Familial Forestry universally I appeal to all for joining my initiative-
FAMILIAL FORESTRY: LEAVE YOUR GREEN FOOTPRINT
